Ceci n´est pas seeks to explore personal choice. The objects represent our thoughts and wishes, as well as all the things from daily life that we may take for granted. The title of the collection comes from a work by the Surrealist painter René Magritte, who aimed to change the expectations of the viewer by creating visual games or double meanings. My intention is quite different: rather than creating questions with surreal imagery, I hope to find answers by confronting themes of identity and acceptance. 'This is not' asks the viewer to reflect on how we see ourselves, how others perceive us, what we want to be, and how we truly are.
